2017 CPA STUDENT POSTER AWARD

ELIGIBILITY

Students submitting for the award must:

  • be a student member of the Educational & School Psychology Section of CPA at the time of submission and at the time of next year’s convention;
  • be first author on their submission;
  • have an accepted poster submission for presentation at the 2017 CPA Convention in Toronto, ONT;
  • if selected as a winner, agree to attend the 2017 CPA Convention in Toronto, Ontario to receive the award.

 

AWARDS

1st Prize - $250 Cash    2nd Prize - $150 Cash    3rd Prize - $50 Cash (Up to Five 3rd Prize Awards)

In addition to the cash prize, all award winners will have conference registration fees waived for the 2017 CPA Annual Convention and an award certificate.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Any graduate student who submits a poster submission to the CPA for the Educational and School Psychology Section and received acceptance for their presentation can apply for this award. To be considered, the completed poster and original abstract must be sent electronically to the Committee Co-Chairs (Troy Janzen & Jen Theule) four weeks prior to the convention date. Posters will be adjudicated by the Section Student Awards Committee. The submission can be received as two files including the 1) original abstract in Word or PDF format and 2) the poster in PDF format.

Award winners will be selected and notified by May 22nd, 2017. Winners are required to attend the convention to receive their award at the Section AGM.

REVIEW, ADJUDICATION, & NOTIFICATION

Submissions will be coordinated and judged by the Student Awards Committee who will individually rate and rank all applications and submit their ratings and rankings to the Student Awards Committee Co-Chairs. Submissions ranked highest will be recommended for the awards. The committee co-chairs will notify students on an individual basis of the decision on their submission. Evaluation will be made using the following criteria: 1) Appropriateness and/or fit of the title and abstract with the overall poster; 2) Clearly stated aims, objectives, and/or purpose; 3) Clear statement of results, and key findings, 4) Clear statement of conclusions, implications for educational research or practice, and/or points of discussion, 5) Overall clarity and quality of presentation, 6) Visual appeal and layout of the poster, 7) Contribution to Educational & School Psychology.
