KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIOURS OF CANADIAN PSYCHOLOGISTS IN RELATION TO EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE #121

Title: KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIOURS OF CANADIAN PSYCHOLOGISTS IN RELATION TO EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE

Description: This study of hundreds of Canadian psychologists aims to better understand how certain personal and professional characteristics may affect clinicians' knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards evidence-based practice (EBP). Practitioners will be asked about their age, gender, cultural identity, target clienteles and other characteristics. They will also answer questions about their beliefs and habits concerning the use research-based interventions in their practice. The anonymity of the participants is ensured by the fact that they will never be required to disclose their name in the course of the survey although some demographic information (i.e. age, cultural group) could lead to indirect identification. Unfortunately, the absence of specific identifying information in the course of the survey prevents them from later deciding to withdraw their participation and ask for their data to be erased.

The goal of this study is to understand the underpinnings of the utilisation of EBP or lack thereof to eventually remove some of the obstacles keeping psychologists from applying the most rigorously proven methods in the field.

Holders of a psychologist's permit (and not a psychotherapist license) from their professional order, from any province or territory in Canada, practicing psychotherapy directly with clients in a clinician role are invited to participate.
