Applicants must be student members of the Aging & Geropsychology section and presenting work related to the general topic of Aging & Geropsychology. The submission does not need to be associated with a presentation at the CPA convention but can be related to any research project, advocacy work, and\/or community\/volunteer project for which the student is involved during the period of September to August for the award year.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Eligibility:<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program (undergraduate, graduate, or post-doctoral level) at a Canadian institution. Student nominees must be directly involved in the project, community engagement, or research. Students can submit an application or be nominated for this award. The winner is recognized with a certificate and a cheque for $250.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Eligibility:<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0To be considered for an award, the student MUST:<br \/>\n(1) Be a member of the CPA section on Brain and Cognitive Science<br \/>\n(2) Be the primary\/first author of the submission<br \/>\n(3) Provide a written summary of his\/her work (about 1000 words) in PDF format; the summary must include a brief introduction, followed by a summary of the Method, Results, and Discussion<br \/>\n(4) Provide a letter from the student\u2019s supervisor indicating that the research summary represents the student\u2019s independent contribution<\/p>\n<p>Awards will be determined based on a written summary of the research, layout\/style, and in-person presentation at the conference. The executives will rank all student posters submitted to the section and the poster with the best rank as determined by the average of the two executives will win. Conflicts of interest and ties will be resolved by having an additional executive member of the Section for Students or an executive from another division evaluate the poster.<\/p>\n<p>The posters will be evaluated using the following criteria and weightings: Research relevance to student section (30%); quality of science (40%), and quality of the poster presentation (30%). Applications must be sent directly to the Chair-Elect via email (<a href=\"mailto:chairelect.cpastudentsection@gmail.com\">chairelect.cpastudentsection@gmail.com<\/a>). All applications will be adjudicated by two executive members of the CPA\u2019s Section for Students. The executives will individually rank all applications submitted to the Section\u2019s Chair-Elect. The highest ranked applications, as determined by the average of the two executives, will be the winners. Conflicts of interest and ties will be resolved by having an additional executive member of the Section for Students or an executive from another division evaluate the application. Conflicts of interest are defined as a personal relationship with the applicant, including previous work together, friendship, or family, but not attending the same institution.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be evaluated using the following three criteria: Demonstrated need and benefit of conference attendance; quality of the abstract submission; distance from annual convention. Common examples include holding training seminars, talks or colloquia with an invited speaker, networking events, and psychology-related workshops, lectures, or panel discussions. In addition to single-events, longer-term projects or programs that serve to enhance students\u2019 experience may also be eligible as initiatives.
