The deadline for submissions has been extended to <strong>April 15<\/strong> <strong>, 2024<\/strong>.\n\nThese awards, named to honour the memory of two Canadian social &amp; personality psychologists who made outstanding contributions to the field during their careers, recognize the best undergraduate (the Kenneth Dion Award) and the best graduate student (the Brendan Gail Rule Award) submissions. The Social &amp; Personality section executive will adjudicate the competition, selecting a winner for each award. Winners will receive a $200 prize.\nThe application instructions for the Kenneth Dion Award (undergraduate) and the Brendan Gail Rule Award (graduate) are identical. What follows is applicable to both awards.\nRequirements:\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>The applicant must be a student and the first author on the project.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Applicants must submit an abstract submission to the Social &amp; Personality section for the CPA 2024 convention.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Applicants must be planning to attend the 2024 CPA convention.<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>For the Kenneth Dion Award, the applicant must be an undergraduate student.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>For the Brendan Gail Rule Award, the applicant must be a graduate student.<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\nDue Date: <strong>April 15<\/strong><strong>, 2024<\/strong>\n\nTo Apply: Students who would like their work considered for the award must make a submission separate from the CPA submission to be sent to the current awards program administrator of the Social-Personality section (see below). This submission should include the following.\n\n1. A cover letter (directed to the awards program administrator) indicating that they would like to be considered for the award including the following information:\n\n\n<ul>\n \t\n\n<li>Full Name<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>University<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Program (e.g., Department of Psychology)<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Area (e.g., Social Psychology, Personality)<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Supervisor(s)<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Type of award applying for (KD or BGR award)<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Current standing as a student (i.e., undergraduate vs graduate; year in program)<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>Did you submit to the CPA 2024 convention? Do you plan to attend?<\/li>\n\n\n \t\n\n<li>What type of submission did you make? (poster, gimme5, talk)<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n2. A 400-word Abstract for Committee Review (blinded for review). In the past, our section offered the Brendan Gail Rule Award and the Kenneth Dion Award to recognize student excellence. These awards, named to honour the memory of two Canadian social psychologists who made outstanding contributions to the field during their careers, recognize the best undergraduate (the Kenneth Dion Award) and the best graduate student (the Brendan Gail Rule Award) submissions. Although we held off opening applications for these legacy awards until 2023, in the interim, we are offering student awards for \u2018Best Poster\u2019 and \u2018Best Talk\u2019 in the Social and Personality section at the CPA 2022 Convention.<\/p>\n<p>The awards were based on the quality of the abstract submissions that were first rated by 2-3 independent reviewers.
