CPA SUMMIT ON KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION

Increasingly, CPA members have been expressing concern at not knowing what funders are looking for in terms of the knowledge mobilization components of grants. In response, the CPA held a 1-day Summit in Ottawa (Westin Hotel) on Thursday, November 12th, 2015 to explore the issue.

The Summitwas structured as follows:

  • The morning was devoted to hearing from representatives from each of CIHR, SSHRC, NSERC, and the NCE, as well as speakers recognized for their successful knowledge mobilization strategies.
  • Participants spent the afternoon in a workshop designed to help them develop a successful mobilization strategy.

What Do the Tri-Council Agencies Look for in a Grant Application?

A knowledge mobilization strategy is becoming increasingly important in grant applications. However, the components of a successful knowledge mobilization strategy vary greatly depending on the area in which you conduct research and the funding agency to which you apply.

To help you determine how to approach the knowledge mobilization aspect of your grant application, the CPA video recorded presentations by representatives of the three Tri-Council Agencies. Please click on the links below to hear what SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR look for in your grant application.

In addition to the representatives of the Tri-Council Agencies, participants at the Knowledge Mobilization Summit heard from several federal, provincial, and academic experts on knowledge mobilization. These presentations took participants beyond the recommendations of the Tri-Council Agencies by providing both broader context and concrete, in-depth examples demonstrating successful approaches to knowledge mobilization.
