Dr. Nicole Sugden is thrilled to serve as the CPA Developmental Section’s chair. She looks forward to spearheading new and restarting obsolesced Honours, Awards, and initiatives to further, support, and share Canadian Developmental Research.

Nicole is a Developmental Researcher whose graduate research at Ryerson University took advantage of the fact that infants are especially interested in social, communicative signals like faces and voices. She examined infants’ natural and diverse daily face experience and how this experience shapes the development of their: (i) attention to faces, (ii) ability to tell the difference between faces, and (iii) brain responses to different types of faces. At the University of British Columbia’s Infant Studies Centre, under the direction of Dr. Janet Werker, Nicole is exploring how infants’ learning and brain development is influenced by their experience with faces and voices.

If you have any feedback, wish to share suggestions, or want to become involved in the section, please contact her at nicoleasugden@gmail.com.
