The Section on Women and Psychology (SWAP) creates a community of researchers, teachers, and practitioners interested in the psychology of women and feminist psychology to advance the status of women in psychology, to promote equity for women in general, and to educate psychologists and the public on topics relevant to women and girls.

Why join SWAP?

  • Feminist news and events: Stay connected and up-to-date on news, events, and discussion relevant to Canadian Feminist Psychology by connecting with SWAP through social media and our Canadian Feminist Psychology listserv. Members also receive our newsletter emailed three times per year.
  • Awards and financial support: Each year, SWAP grants various student awards, a Feminist Mentoring Award,and a Distinguished Member Award.
  • Networking and professional development opportunities: Connect with professionals and peers who share your passion for advancing feminist issues through SWAP programming at CPA’s annual national convention (and other SWAP events hosted throughout the year). SWAP members can also participate in our small mentorship pods that each centre around a particular theme or interest. Looking for a research collaborator or femininst graduate school supervisor?   • Leadership and influence:Join the SWAP Executive Committee to help shape the future of SWAP and feminist psychology in Canada. Contact the current Chair to learn about vacant positions and how to get involved.
  • Showcase your news, events, and expertise: Share your news and events relevant to feminist psychology with our members and followers through our social media and listservs. We also regularly feature members and their research in our #EmergingCanadianFeministScholars and #SWAPScholarsSpotlight series on social media.
