Mission:
The Development Psychology Section (DPS) is organized to advance our knowledge in Developmental Psychology (DP), to influence public policy, and to provide opportunities for professional, educational, and societal development in our area.
Members are invited to join DPNet, a listserv disseminating periodic updates to developmental researchers in Canada and internationally. Student Section members are eligible to apply for travel and presentation awards for the 2026 Convention. Full details and an online application are available at the link below. Students must complete this form by May 18th in order to be considered for an award.

About the awards:
Amount: Three awards will be available for students giving talks (Gold $300, Silver $200, and Bronze $100).
Deadline: May 18, 2026
Information:
Presented papers will be assessed on the following criteria: oral communication skills (volume, projection, eye contact with audience, pacing), clarity and organization of the information, flow, selection of key information, use of visual aids to support presentation, practiced (not reliant on reading).
Application Procedure: To be eligible, students must be first authors on their talks for the Developmental section. Students must also register to be evaluated for the awards using the following form:

Information:
Posters will be assessed on the following criteria: quality of visual presentation (visually appealing layout, balance of visual and verbal content, ability to read content from at least 3 feet, sequence/flow of information), clarity and completeness of content, preparation and clarity of 2-3 minute walk through provided by the presenter.
Application Procedure: To be eligible, students must be first authors on their posters for the Developmental section. Students must also register to be evaluated for the awards using the following form:

Information: Eligible applicants must be engaged in studies at an institution that is 300 kilometers or more from the conference site in Montreal. Draws will be made during the developmental area business meeting. Recipients must be present at the meeting to receive the travel award.(details of the time and place will be forwarded once finalized)
