CPA PRESIDENT’S NEW RESEARCHER AWARDS GUIDELINES
These awards recognize the exceptional quality of the contribution of new researchers to psychological knowledge in Canada. Selection of award recipients is based on the examination of the applicant’s record of early career achievement. A maximum of three awards are conferred annually in diverse areas of psychology.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Be a CPA member with five years or less post-graduate training experience (e.g., post-Masters, post-Ph.D.);
- Be within 5 years of completing their graduate degree (e.g., Masters, doctorate) and no longer enrolled as a student in a graduate program. Therefore a student who has graduated from a Masters program but is still in a doctorate program is not eligible for the award.
- Students enrolled in post-doctoral programs must be CPA members to be considered for the award (not student affiliates).
The winners will receive a certificate and a $500 cash award that will be presented during the CPA Convention. The winner will also receive a free registration to attend the upcoming CPA convention and participate in a symposium.
The review committee is composed of the President, the immediate past President, the President-elect, and the Chair of the Scientific Affairs Committee.
Submissions must be sent by January 31, 2025 and must include the candidate’s curriculum vitae (in PDF Format), a letter of nomination (from a current CPA Fellow or Member), and three letters of support written in the last calendar year (from current CPA Fellows or Members).
All 2025 nominations will be submitted by electronic form during the month of January to ensure that all nominees, nominators and letter of support writers are current CPA Members or Fellows for 2025.
The form for electronic submissions will open January 1st, 2025.
