Purpose:

The purpose of the Committee on Human Rights and Equity is to serve as a resource for the CEO and Board as relates to human rights and equity issues and their relevance to the Association from an operations and governance perspective, as well as to the profession and discipline of psychology in Canada.

Goals:

Identify the intersections between human rights and equity principles and respond to the ongoing and evolving relevance to the profession and discipline of psychology.

Envision and actively promote one or more frameworks for the CPA’s work in advancing human rights and equity in the association, in the profession, and in the discipline of psychology

Identify diverse community groups and organizations/groups that are founded in human rights and equity principles and practices with which to consult and/or collaborate.

Provide guidance on psychology work and initiatives related to and impacting human rights and equity for all marginalized groups

Provide input to the CPA’s external representation, advocacy, and lobbying efforts as relates to human rights and equity.
