Purpose:

The purpose of the Professional Affairs Committee is centred around collaboration and advocacy to enhance the presence and impact of psychology practitioners within various sectors of society.  Specifically, it aims to work alongside provincial psychological associations and collaborate with provincial psychological associations and other national bodies within the field to:

  • Assert and broaden the influence of practitioners in the community and the human service systems and the workplace.  This involves not just maintaining but expanding the roles and recognition of psychologists in these areas.
  • Ensure the availability of quality psychological services for clients and patients.  A focus on both the accessibility and standards of psychological care ensures that high-quality support is provided to those who need it.

Goals:

To help the Canadian public better understand applied psychology.

To support the practice of psychology.

To help guide the future of the profession of psychology.
