Examining Knowledge of Sleep Hygiene Among Practicing Psychologists: The Role of Sleep Quality, Stress, and Attitudes about Sleep

Title: Examining Knowledge of Sleep Hygiene Among Practicing Psychologists: The Role of Sleep Quality, Stress, and Attitudes about Sleep

Description: Understanding and educating on sleep hygiene is essential to support cognition and emotional health throughout the lifespan. As the prevalence of sleep related disorders and disruptions continue to rise, there is an increased recognition of the need for psychologists to be competent in sleep hygiene knowledge to translate their knowledge into practice (i.e., advice to clients and application in their own lives) (Meaklim et al., 2023). The objective of this online survey study is to describe self-reported knowledge of sleep hygiene in practicing psychologists and whether self-reported sleep quality, stress, and attitudes about sleep predict knowledge. Insights from this study might have the potential to be addressed in graduate programs for psychologists in training, and will contribute to the currently minimal evidence on this topic in Canada.
