Statement of Intent
Interests in Position
First, I am aspiring to become a Licensed Psychologist, and have been pursuing this dream since 2017. I am deeply interested in cognitive processes and neurological states (—or, rather, dispositional traits—) that are fundamental to the constructs of creativity, generativity (Erikson, 1950, 1963), and Openness-to-experience (Costa & McCrae, 1985, 1992). I strive to have a meaningful career and go on to make contributions within the developments of the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM). Second, I thrive in roles that allow me to demonstrate leadership. I enjoy taking the lead and supporting others in any way I can; and, furthermore, attunement to others’ needs is very important to me. It would be a capstone to my career developments to hold this position of Chair-Elect for the Student Section. 🙂
Applicant Qualities
First, I am a devoted worker and deeply-caring young woman; that is, I am very attentive to detail and can gracefully work "on-my-feet" when needed. I am a natural-born leader and markedly high in psychosocial agility; that is, I thrive in work that allows me to support the development of other people, especially within administrative and organizational fields. Second, I attended my first CPA convention in 2023 (84th annual convention; Toronto, ON), and loved volunteering to help guests at the Student Booth. In the following year, I had an amazing time at the 85th CPA convention (Ottawa, ON) running Snapshot Presentations. I am registered for the upcoming 86th CPA convention in St. Johns (NL), and excitedly look forward to attending each CPA convention in the future. In closing, I love being a part of the CPA and becoming more involved, and I would flourish in the executive role of Chair-Elect. Thank you for your consideration! 🙂

Academic Goals
First, I have long-term interests in emotional empathy and related empathic capacities; for example, I have written a number of prestigious works on dynamics between generativity (Erikson, 1950) and alexithymia (Sifneos, 1973). My supervisor and I conduct quantitative research projects with the Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20; Bagby et al., 1994) and the Toronto Empathy Scale (TEQ; Spreng et al., 2009). Second, I am also interested in broader concepts of Clinical and Applied Psychology: (1) Metacognition and outcomes in life; (2) Resilience and stress-responses; and (3) Self-determination and Longevity or Mortality.
Personal Interests
Briefly, I am a skilled guitarist and singer, with training in Classical Music Theory from childhood. I would love to elaborate more in a remote meeting (e.g., Zoom, MS Teams)! 🙂
