Nominee Statement for Kimberly L. Sogge seeking the Director at Large Position
I am a registered clinical health psychologist (CPO #4531) in private practice in Ottawa, Canada. I hold a Ph.D. from Texas A&M College Station. I have been recognized with multiple awards and grants: Good Neighbour Fellowship from Texas A&M for outstanding graduate student from Canada or Mexico; co-author of a 600K+ AHRQ grant on Simulation of Team Coordination Processes in ER Code Teams; Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Award; Clinician of the Year award for Peterborough Regional Health Centre; community recognition as Top Psychologist in Ottawa for 2024.
I have held roles as faculty (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science), researcher (Director of Simulation Research), clinical leader (Chief of Psychology Professional Practice at the Royal Ottawa) and clinician (Ottawa River Integrative Mental Health Inc.). My intentions in standing as a candidate are to support the evolution & growth of psychology as a profession in Canada, to facilitate an inclusive & respectful community of psychology professionals, & to nurture conditions within the profession of psychology to serve the psychological health & well-being of all Canadians in the Anthropocene.
I offer my experiences of leadership within complex professional environments, skills in systems analysis, building teams, upholding standards of professional practice, creating productive conversations, & inviting imagination of new possibilities. I offer my years of direct clinical practice to understanding the complexities facing psychologists of the future. Finally, I offer my personal qualities of mindfulness, compassionate listening, & energy as we envision together how to best create for conditions for a psychologically healthy future for the greatest number of beings in Canada.
