Nominee Statement for Chimène Jewer seeking the Director at Large Position
I am writing to express my interest in serving on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) as a Director-at-Large. As a dedicated psychologist with a strong commitment to advocacy for the profession, I believe I could bring valuable experience to the CPA Board.
I graduated with a Masters’ of Science in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University in 2005. My current position, is as a Clinical Psychologist with Mental Health Services at Canadian Forces Health Services in Halifax. I served as Psychology Lead at the clinic from 2018-2020. I also developed a DBT skills group therapy program there and published re. this in 2022. In January, I was awarded the Surgeon General’s Clinical Coin.
I have received other awards, including an award from the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia (APNS) for Outstanding Early Career Psychologist (2015), from CPA for Academic Excellence (2006) and a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) graduate scholarship (2004/2005).
In addition, I have been actively involved with APNS serving as Secretary (2009-2011), Early Career Psychology Committee Chair (2011-2013), and President (now Past Present) (2022 - present). I am also the Council of Professional Associations of Psychologists (CPAP) voting representative for Nova Scotia.
