Psychology Month – Sunday February 22

Conversion or reparative therapy can result in negative outcomes like distress, anxiety, depression, negative self-image, a feeling of personal failure, difficulty sustaining relationships, and sexual dysfunction. Research does not support the notion that conversion or reparative therapy works. There is also no evidence that the negative effects of conversion or reparative therapy counterbalance any distress caused by the social stigma and prejudice these individuals may experience. The CPA advocated for a national ban on the practice, which became law in 2023.
