As I intend to enter my graduate studies in Clinical Psychology in 2022, I believe my time now will be best spent utilizing my enthusiasm and ambition for student research through this role, which will allow me to grow upon my skills as a student researcher. Furthermore, I have utilized this year to continue advancing my interests in working in the areas of health promotion, mental health, and clinical work. As much I would love to inform the executive team of what previous experiences I have joined have been most meaningful to me, I would be remised to not mention each and every one of them. As such, this year has taught me that there is always a way I can be utilizing my time and love for this discipline through participating in many roles, opportunities, and experiences. In many of these roles, I have been fortunate to gain access to several amazing research opportunities, which have facilitated many of my interests that I wish to take into graduate school. Further, each of my many leadership and research roles has equipped me to become an extraordinary Graduate Student Executive for the Student Section, as I intend to bring my relevant lived experiences, knowledge of the diverse field, and public networking to bringing meaning to the research in this area. I hope to work in this position so that I may continue advocating for the importance of supporting student research and mental health resources all groups and minorities across Canada (especially amid COVID-19). I wish to engage in this role to the best of my abilities, which will allow me to grow my skills as a leader and advocate of the Student Section for the CPA. I am very passionate about participating in this role and I look forward to bringing my own personal flare to this position if permitted. I believe I will not be a successful fit but I can benefit as a collaborative learner within the section, which will bring greater advocacy and transparency to the discipline.
Comme j'ai l'intention d'entamer mes études supérieures en psychologie clinique en 2022, je pense que mon temps sera maintenant mieux dépensé en utilisant mon enthousiasme et mon ambition pour la recherche étudiante à travers ce rôle, ce qui me permettra de développer mes compétences en tant qu'étudiant chercheur. De plus, j'ai profité de cette année pour continuer à faire progresser mes intérêts en travaillant dans les domaines de la promotion de la santé, de la santé mentale et du travail clinique. Malgré le fait que j'aimerais informer l'équipe de direction de tout ce que mes expériences précédentes m’ont apportées, je ne peux malheureusement pas mentionner chacune d'entre elles. En tant que tel, cette année m'a appris qu'il y a toujours moyen d'utiliser mon temps et mon amour pour cette discipline en participant à de nombreux rôles, opportunités et expériences. Dans bon nombre de ces rôles, j'ai eu la chance d'avoir accès à plusieurs opportunités de recherche incroyables, qui ont facilité bon nombre de mes intérêts que je souhaite intégrer à mes études supérieures. De plus, chacun de mes nombreux rôles de leadership et de recherche m'ont équipé pour devenir un extraordinaire directeur des affaires étudiantes aux cycles supérieurs, car j'ai l'intention d'apporter mes expériences vécues pertinentes, ma connaissance du domaine diversifié et le réseautage pour donner un sens à la recherche. J'espère oeuver dans ce poste afin de pouvoir continuer à défendre l'importance de soutenir la recherche étudiante et les ressources en santé mentale de tous les groupes et minorités à travers le Canada (en particulier au milieu du COVID-19). Je souhaite m'engager dans ce rôle au mieux de mes capacités, ce qui me permettra de développer mes compétences en tant que leader et défenseur de la section étudiante de la SCP. Je suis très passionné d'oeuvrer dans ce poste et j'ai hâte d'apporter ma propre touche personnelle à ce poste si possible. Je crois que je peux bénéficier en apprenant et collaborant au sein de la section, ce qui apportera une plus grande défense et une plus grande transparence à la discipline.
I am delighted to apply for the Graduate Student Affairs Executive position for the CPA Student Section. As I approach the end of my degree in Psychology at the University of Guelph, I am looking to take my deep interests into my graduate studies in Clinical Psychology in the near future. I believe this position will allow me to continue gaining experience in promoting the discussion and facilitation of psychological content in Canada, as well as I believe working within this role will allow me to become a positive asset to the Student Section of researchers. Amid COVID-19, I have first hand experienced the difficulties that many student researchers have faced when trying to network, research, and to furthering their careers during these unlawful times. Furthermore, as I continue to work and aspire towards my future professional goals in Psychology, I believe I can vitalize this opportunity and in the ways that students represent themselves in research. I wish to bring my insights as an aspiring graduate student representative into bringing meaning to this role through my commitment, integrity, and perseverance during COVID-19. As such, I believe this is a year of great and vast opportunity for the CPA and Student Sections, which will allow me to assist the collaborated efforts of students across Canada to becoming certified and fully professional psychologists, researchers, and advocates in the field. I believe this is the year that we use our diverse efforts and student engagement to continue bringing meaningful support and contribution to the CPA. I would like this position so that I can consider working and aspiring towards these likeminded goals and to contributing to the CPA in a way that is hands-on. With my experience, education, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn, I am fully prepared to thrive in this position and exceed every expectation.
