The purpose of Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Student Section’s Best Student Poster Award is to encourage high quality submissions to the Section for Students division for the annual conference of the CPA. This award will recognize the most outstanding poster submission in both French and English, as determined by the executive committee of the Section for Students.

Award Details / Détails du prix :
The Best Student Poster Awards will be presented in the form of a certificate from the CPA’s Section for Students after the conference. The certificates will be accompanied by a monetary prize of $150 funded by the Section for Students. Two awards will be presented representing English and French presentations.

Adjudication :
The Chair-Elect of the Section for Students will coordinate The Best Student Poster Award each year. Eligible poster submissions will be adjudicated by two executives of the CPA’s Section for Students. The executives will rank all student posters submitted to the section and the poster with the best rank as determined by the average of the two executives will win. Conflicts of interest and ties will be resolved by having an additional executive member of the Section for Students or an executive from another division evaluate the poster.
The posters will be evaluated using the following criteria and weightings: Research relevance to student section (30%); quality of science (40%), and quality of the poster presentation (30%). See enclosed rubric for more details. Evaluators will inform students of the Best Student Poster Award and make the students aware of the evaluation.
La personne vice-présidente désignée (Chair-Elect) de la Section des étudiant(e)s coordonnera le Prix de la meilleure affiche étudiante chaque année. Les affiches admissibles seront évaluées par deux membres de l’exécutif de la Section des étudiant(e)s de la SCP. Les membres de l’exécutif classeront toutes les affiches étudiantes soumises à la section, et l’affiche obtenant le meilleur classement, selon la moyenne des deux évaluations, sera la gagnante. This award will recognize high quality students with strong submissions (to any section of the CPA), primarily based on financial need, as determined by the executive of the Section for Students.
The applicant’s distance from the location of the annual convention will be taken into consideration.
Les bourses de voyage de la section étudiante de la Société canadienne de psychologie (SCP) ont pour but d’encourager les étudiants canadiens à assister au congrès annuel de la SCP et à présenter leurs recherches. Cette bourse récompensera les étudiants de grande qualité qui ont soumis des travaux solides (à n’importe quelle section de la SCP), principalement en fonction des besoins financiers, tels que déterminés par le comité exécutif de la section des étudiants. Students must be at the conference to receive their award. Students will receive their award via direct deposit after the convention. The number of awards available and the amount of each award will vary from year to year, based on available funding.

A complete application will include the following information:
- A paragraph outlining financial need and relevance of conference attendance to training goals
- A copy of the abstract submitted to the annual CPA convention
- Proof of the student’s acceptance to the annual CPA convention (this is the document from CPA that has your presentation time on it).
- A short statement outlining the distance between the applicant’s university and the annual CPA convention (in kilometers). In the case of applicants completing online degrees or not currently registered in a program, distance may be calculated between place of residence and the annual CPA convention.

Adjudication :
The Chair-Elect of the Section for Students will coordinate the Student Travel Awards each year. Applications must be sent directly to the Chair-Elect via email (chairelect.cpastudentsection@gmail.com). All applications will be adjudicated by two executive members of the CPA’s Section for Students. The executives will individually rank all applications submitted to the Section’s Chair-Elect. The highest ranked applications, as determined by the average of the two executives, will be the winners. Conflicts of interest and ties will be resolved by having an additional executive member of the Section for Students or an executive from another division evaluate the application. Conflicts of interest are defined as a personal relationship with the applicant, including previous work together, friendship, or family, but not attending the same institution.
Applicants will be evaluated using the following three criteria: Demonstrated need and benefit of conference attendance; quality of the abstract submission; distance from annual convention. See enclosed rubric for more details. Evaluators will inform students on an individual basis of the decision on their application.

This award is intended to support students in undergraduate or graduate programs in any domain or discipline within psychology who are actively engaged in research.

Eligibility / Admissibilité :
To be eligible for this grant, students must meet the following criteria:
- Note that only one of the following grants can be held at any given time: CPA Student Research Grant, CPA Student Section Research Grant, BMS-sponsored Research or Leadership Grant. Eligible students can apply for one or more of these grants but can only hold one grant.
- The applicant must be a current member of the Section for Students of the Canadian Psychological Association at time of application and if successful, over the term of the grant
- The applicant must be the primary investigator and/or first author of the research project
- The research project for which support is being sought must be relevant to at least one domain or discipline within psychology
- The research project for which support is being sought must not yet be completed (i.e., does not apply retroactively to completed research projects), and the research and/or data collection must begin within 12 months of the adjudication of this award.

Information :The purpose of the Campus Initiative Grant is to support events or programs that serve to enhance the educational experience in psychology of students on campus. Common examples include holding training seminars, talks or colloquia with an invited speaker, networking events, and psychology-related workshops, lectures, or panel discussions. In addition to single-events, longer-term projects or programs that serve to enhance students’ experience may also be eligible as initiatives. For example, groups may apply for funds to support the start of a department-wide mentorship program for students.
La section étudiante encourage le développement de projets, programmes, initiatives et évènements de campus qui soutiennent les objectifs d’apprentissage, de réseautage et de formation des membres de la section. La section reconnaît que les organisations étudiantes (ex. une association étudiante de psychologie) ou les étudiant·es ont souvent des idées d’initiatives et de projets qu’ils et elles tiennent sur leurs campus collégiaux/universitaires qui pourraient bénéficier de financement externe supplémentaire.

To be eligible to apply for this grant:
- Applicants must be a current member of the Section for Students of the Canadian Psychological Association; for student-group applications, the individual applying for the award on behalf of the group must be a member of the Section for Students.
- Initiatives must be related to the purposes and requirements as detailed in Sections (1) and (2); that is, related to the educational objectives of the Section and relevant for its members.
- Proposed activities or initiatives must be held at the institution’s campus.
- Initiatives must have received departmental approval prior to being submitted. A letter from the Chair of the relevant department in support of this initiative or event must be submitted.
