The Development Psychology Section (DPS) is organized to advance our knowledge in Developmental Psychology (DP), to influence public policy, and to provide opportunities for professional, educational, and societal development in our area.
Members are active on DPNet (Electronic Connections for Developmentalists), which is an electronic service for disseminating relevant information to all Developmentalists at all locations. DPNet is now maintained at Carleton University, through the Pickering Centre for Human Development. For further information, contact DPNet Administrator Will Hipson at dpnet.admin@carleton.ca. - NEW How many developmental researchers are being trained in Canadian graduate programs? How many are graduating with PhD’s focusing on Developmental Psychology? In what sub-fields are these graduates specializing? Although the Canadian government tracks the number of PhD’s awarded in Canada, we don’t know how many of these are graduates in Developmental Psychology. Tailoring the Developmental Psychology Section’s outreach and programs requires an understanding emerging and recent PhD’s. The CPA Developmental Section invites proposals to assess the number of PhD students and recent PhD graduates in Developmental Psychology and its sub-fields at Universities in Canada. We look forward to proposals detailing a budget, research plan (including methodology), timelines, and scope for research to be conducted between January and December 2019. The report will be due to the Developmental Section for review by December 2019 and disseminated to Developmental Section members thereafter.
Proposals are due on November 10th. Please forward complete proposals to the section chair via email at nicoleasugden@gmail.com with the subject line “CPA Developmental Section PhD Graduate Survey”.
