Student Symposiums at the Annual CPA Convention in Ottawa, June 21-23, 2024

Dear CPA Family Psychology Section Members,

The CPA Family Psychology Section is pleased to be sponsoring a student symposium at this year’s upcoming CPA Annual Convention that will take place in Ottawa from June 21 to 23, 2024.

We are revising our original call for student symposium abstract submissions to reflect the earlier deadline for the general call for submissions to the CPA convention.

To qualify, a student must be the first author of a proposed presentation.

This year, we are looking for student presentations related to the themes of (1) assessment and intervention in the field of family psychology and (2) the impact of normative and non-normative stressors on individual and family functioning.

The steps for submitting are as follows:

  1. ) Please submit an abstract according to the CPA guidelines: 1,400 characters (Including spaces), 240 characters (Including spaces) for titles, and 50 characters (Including spaces) for abbreviated titles. For detailed information, visit https://convention.cpa.ca/faq/
  2. ) Include the following information for all the authors/co-authors: (a) affiliation(s), (b) School/Department mailing address, (c) Phone number, and (d) Email address. Please note that submissions without this information will be returned as we require the information to submit the abstract in the convention portal.
  3. ) Please email your submissions to the Family Section Student Representative, Jasmine Zhang (jasmine.zhang@uwaterloo.ca) by November 6, 2023.
  4. ) Presentations selected for the symposium will be submitted by the Family Section Student Representative, who will chair the student symposium. All applicants will be notified about the status of their submission by November 13, 2023, to allow submissions not selected for the symposium to be submitted to the general call for submissions.

We look forward to reviewing your submissions. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Jasmine Zhang
