The editorial board for Mind Pad, the publication written, edited, and published by the CPA Section for Students, changes over every year in September. A call for applications for various positions is released in August, and the editorial board is finalized by mid-to-late September. Please see the section below for the latest call for applications along with the application deadline.
Getting involved is an opportunity for students to experience both the writing and the formal reviewing process that every psychologist (and psychologist in training!) must go through. Mind Pad aims to publish material that is of interest to all who are practicing and studying psychology, but targets students in particular.
Positions on the editorial board include two to three Associate Editors and a panel of Reviewers.
Associate Editors are responsible for managing manuscripts submitted to the journal, selecting reviewers, providing authors with feedback on their submission, and help with the ultimate decision on each manuscript. Reviewers are responsible for reviewing and editing articles and evaluating the submissions in terms of content, research methodology, style, and grammar.
The term for all positions is 1 year (September to August).
Application process: 2024-2025 Academic Year
Application deadline: October 2, 2024
Experience in editing or peer reviewing is an asset but not required. We encourage students in psychology, either English or Francophone, to apply for positions. The application must be submitted to Mind Pad’s Editor-in-Chief before the deadline.
Please note that Associate Editor positions are reserved for graduate students, while both undergraduate and graduate students can participate as Reviewers.
The application package for both the associate editor and reviewer positions must include:
- A cover letter detailing your interest in the position and corresponding qualifications. Your cover letter must also include the following details:
- The language(s) you are comfortable reviewing in
- Your research areas of expertise
- Your email address, year of study, and academic program.
- Your cover letter must also confirm that you are a CPA Student Affiliate and member of the Section for Students, or that you intend to become an affiliate upon acceptance to the editorial board.
- An updated CV
Please submit your application packages to the Editor in Chief, Melissa Lazo (pastchair.cpastudentsection@gmail.com) with the subject line: Mind Pad Associate Editor Application 2024 or Mind Pad Associate Reviewer Application 2024. All application packages must be submitted as one PDF file.
Reading this page after the deadline? Unfortunately, this means that applications are currently closed. If you are interested in participating next year, the call for applications will be updated on this website and will be emailed to all CPA Student Affiliates who are also members of the Section for Students in late August to early September.
