SWAP Student Awards
SWAP Feminist Mentoring Award
SWAP Student Awards
Each year, the Section on Women and Psychology (SWAP) of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) offers 3 types of awards to students and recent graduates who are presenting research relevant to girls, women, or feminism at the annual CPA convention.
(1) Student Paper Award ($500) — typically 1 offered per year
Awarded to a student presenting at the upcoming annual CPA convention who (a) submits the highest quality paper / summary of research (evaluated based on contribution to feminist psychology, writing style, methodological excellence, etc.) and (b) compellingly demonstrates the relevance of their research to girls, women, or feminism, and how it addresses issues related to diversity.
(2) Student Presentation Award ($250) — typically 1 offered per year
Awarded to a student presenting in the SWAP programme at the upcoming annual CPA convention who (a) presents the highest quality presentation (evaluated based on contribution to feminist psychology, presentation style, methodological excellence, etc.) and (b) compellingly demonstrates the relevance of their research to girls, women, or feminism, and how it addresses issues related to diversity. Although you must apply for this award in advance, your presentation will be evaluated during the convention (you may be asked to submit a PDF of your final presentation).
(3) Student Travel Bursary ($250) — typically 4–5 offered per year
Awarded to students travelling to present (excludes virtual presentations) at the upcoming annual CPA convention. Travel bursaries are awarded based on the distance to be travelled and the relevance of the student’s research to girls, women, or feminism, and how it addresses issues related to diversity.
